Please be aware that effective June 1st 2007 the Surplus Lines Association of Colorado will NO longer accept tax payments on new policies of insurance. We will continue to accept and report transactions, endorsements and cancellations, on previously reported policies. These transactions should be forwarded in the normal way.

The Association has reached this decision based upon recent interpretations of Article V, Non Admitted Insurance, by the Colorado Division of Insurance.

If you have a resident surplus lines license in any other State then you are eligible to receive a non resident surplus lines license in Colorado. This will enable you to report your own policies.

You may also continue to utilize the services of any other Colorado surplus lines licensee who can report these transactions on your behalf.

If you need assistance in any of these areas please do not hesitate to contact me.

The Association would like to thank you for your past cooperation in ensuring that Colorado has received tax payments in the past.

John Wethey.
